Wakeboarding in Stockholm

Wakeboarding at Kungsträgården in Stockholm. Photo by Robert Corkery.

Wakeboarding in the center of Stockholm on a chilly, gray Sunday afternoon. It did not make a lot of sense and it was definitely crazy, but I also thought it was a pretty funny concept.

Robert and I came across Wake up Stockholm – an event where a team of wakeboarders was doing jumps across the fountain at Kungstägården – in wandering around town today.

A group of boarders – including two women – took turns being pulled and jumping from a platform across a blow up pool and then into the fountain where there where ramps set up. Even though most of the boarders were wearing wetsuits, the day was still cold and many were trembling. It was just not wakeboarding weather. I was chilled without jumping into the fountain, so I can only imagine how cold these people were.
