Winter in Stockholm

Like with any long-term relationship, my feelings about living in Stockholm often fluctuate. While I have certainly had my struggles with this city and culture, I have been on a good roll with Stockholm for a few months. During December, I even think I fell in love with the city all over again.

I like the big city conveniences mixed in with the old world charm, the quaint traditions and the modern technology. But oh my, I am still struggling with the lack of light. I don’t think I will ever get used to it. I have not seen the sun since I returned here on Monday night. And while I can appreciate the gray as a visual statement, it wrecks havoc on my physical and mental being. I have had my vitamin D and a cup of tea and am thinking about having a Diet Coke at 9 am to try to betterĀ  jump start my day. I am also sitting in front of my energy light in the perhaps vain hope that I can wake up and function soon.

Your photos are always so lovely. Thanks for sharing. I hope you see the sun soon. (And, that I get to see Stockholm soon. It’s been on my list to visit for years.)

And it really is beautiful. But I am getting tired of putting on the boots and all the layers!

I understand the coca cola thing at 9:00 in the morning. Our first winter in Stockholm, I was cracking open my can at 9:00 when I arrived to work..not a good idea..it only works for an hour before the twitching starts.

I definitely use it as a crutch. Good luck in rainy Dublin!
