Visions of paradise: on the beach in Adelaide

The beach in front of our hotel room.

The beach in front of our hotel room.

Right now, paradise is directly in front of me: I am looking out the window of my Adelaide hotel room overlooking the beach. The turquoise blue waters of the Southern Ocean are calmer today with just a gentle surf rolling in. Sun worshippers of all ages and shapes are on the beach and in the water, enjoying the much-needed breeze on a hot 43 degree c day. As for me, I was out earlier but am now giving my winter-white skin a much-needed break from the intensity of the summer sun.
It’s gorgeous here and I don’t want to leave. I am relaxed and at peace.

In Stockholm, my vision of paradise is on any number of the more than 24,000 rocky islands of the archipelago. Paddling a kayak over the calm but chilly waters of the Baltic, then stopping for lunch on the beach of a tiny deserted island. It’s gorgeous there in a more deep blue and green kind of color scheme.
But I have to admit that my vision of paradise typically includes a summer day. So for now, it’s good to be in the land down under!

Sounds more than great. Believe it or not, the sun is out here today!!!! After so many days of miserable weather any bit of sunshine makes it feel like paradise…. sad. I’d love to be down there instead!
