Thanks to a complicated combination of flight delays, we spent 50 hours traveling from Stockholm to Cincinnati. After my last post, we finally got out of Stockholm, but at that point we had missed our direct connection to Cincinnati. To rebook our flights, we spent 8.5 hours waiting in line at the Air France counter at Charles de Gaulle. Periodically, Air France employees would pass out drinks and sandwiches. But otherwise, there was nothing for us to do but wait, alternately sitting and standing on the marble floor.
When our time at the counter finally came, there were no direct flights to Cincinnati left, so we were booked on flights to Boston and then on to Cincinnati. We didn’t care though. We just wanted out. Then we were told there were no hotels available and that we would need to stay at the airport. By this point, it was 2 am. We had to stand in line again to receive a yoga-mat-like sleeping pad and a blanket. After waiting 30 minutes, we decided to see if there were any hotels available. And of course, there were. So by 3 am, we were checking into the Crowne Plaza.
Back at the airport the next day, our flight was delayed in taking off. So of course we missed our connecting flight to Cincinnati. After running back and forth around the airport, we were issued our new tickets. This time, we had to go to Charlotte. And then we finally got a flight to Cincinnati, arriving at 12.15 on Wednesday morning. It was a long journey!

Oh you poor things. My mother and her husband had a similar thing coming from the US to Sweden. It ended up involving trains and still no sign of their luggage.
Hope your trip to the US makes up for it!
Been wondering how it all turned out…glad you are safe and home with family. Have a wonderful holiday Sandra and Robert!
I posted on FB before I read this. You poor darlings!
I hope you’ve slept soundly and can now start to enjoy your Christmas festivities and the holidays.
Please say hi to Robert for me and Merry Christmas from Kjell and me.
Sometimes it’s not just about the journey. Good to her you made it. Happy holidays.
What a hellish trip! Glad to hear you finally made it. You really deserve a relaxing, peaceful Christmas….enjoy!
That is really really bad!! Cannot believe what you and Robert went through. Merry Merry Christmas.
xoxo
Glad you finally made it – and in time for Christmas at least! There are many who are still stranded. Have a wonderful holiday.
Hi everyone, Thanks for the comments. We are happy to have made it to Cincinnati at last. Compared to many people, we did not have it so bad at all. But we still don’t have our suitcases. And that is annoying.
