To the land down under

in Australia,Stockholm,Travels,Travels

Changes in attitude, changes in latitude. Although I have never been a Jimmy Buffet fan, I think this quote sums me up perfectly just now. On Wednesday, Robert and I left Stockholm with a light snow falling. On Friday, we landed in Canberra where although it was raining, the temperatures were much more hospitable. And today, it was sunny and about 25c.

With Robert’s sister Kylie and her family, we went to Pine Island on the Murrumbidgee River today. We had a picnic and played cricket. It was my first time and I have to admit that I am not really sure about the rules of this game. But I did have fun. And then we went down to one of the beaches on the river. Robert and the kids swam, while I just waded, figuring that I did not need to subject everyone there to my blindingly winter white skin.

Relaxing in the warm sun, it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of me. I love winter and I love snow, but I am at heart a summer girl. Being out today, it made me feel good to be alive. I’ve had a huge change in attitude. And that is in spite of the mild case of jet lag that made it hard to get  moving this morning.

Hej! Doug and I want Robert to teach us how to play cricket this summer, OK? We’ll trade boat outings for cricket lessons! Glad you are soaking in the warmth. Miss you tons. xoxo

Jealous. Went to Sigtuna today to visit friends. It was a winter wonderland. The sun was actually shinning. Yeah. Miss you.

Love to Robert,

That sounds like a fair trade! I furthered my education last night by watching Australia play New Zealand. Luckily, the right team won.

Glad that it went well. It is sunny and warm again here today, but rain is forecast.
