Before coming to Croatia, I’m pretty sure that I’d never had a Croatian wine. But while we’ve been here, we’ve been sampling quite a few.
There’s actually a local wine made in Primošten called Babić – pronounced bah-bich. The Babić is an indigenous grape variety grown in Northern Dalmatia and it apparently thrives in the poor, rocky soils along the Adriatic. The wine has a fairly soft and smooth taste and is often served with sparkling water on a hot summer day. Oh, the Croatian beer is decent too and we’ve had Karlovačko and Ozujsko. Both are good lagers and there’s even a lemon version of the Karlovačko.
