in Living in Europe,Stockholm, what to see in Stockholm

stockholm sunset

Sunset over Riddarholmen church with Stadshuset slightly blocked by a construction crane. Photos by Robert Corkery.

Sunday night at sunset – sometime around 9.30 pm – Robert and I took a walk along the water around Södermalm and Gamla Stan. We just barely caught the sun before it disappeared behind the buildings. But this being almost summer in Stockholm, the light lingered on for some time, as you can see in the photos below which were taken after the sun went down. LOVE the light.

To me, this view is iconic Söder.

sodermalm hill

The cobblestone streets of Södermalm. It's hard to see here just how steep this hill is.

It looks just gorgeous – but not a good place for heels.
