sunning in Stockholm

Catching the sun in Södermalm.

Now that the temperatures have warmed up a bit, Stockholmers are out in full force to soak up the sun. Even though the warmest temperature we’ve had is 20c – a temperature which in the past I would hardly refer to as sunbathing weather – women are already in bikinis in the park to absorb as much of the rays as possible. And I find myself doing the same. I am so desperate to be out in the sun, it makes me worry. Will I end up with the brown and deeply wrinkled face that’s so common among many of the older Stockholm women?

By the way, my naked neighbors are out too: the one across from (about age 30) us has been out on her balcony topless and the old man in the other direction (approximately 75) has been sun bathing in the buff in front of his open window.
