nk store window display

An NK store window – the "mannequins" are made up of paper butterflies. How cool is that?

I’m seeing tiny glimpses that winter may not be here forever. The snow really is melting in places, for instance, just not my front courtyard which is still stupidly treacherous. But it’s still cold and I have to say that I am bored by my winter clothes. So I’ve been trying to switch out some of them, pulling out lighter colored scarves to wear with my warm coats, for instance. I’ve even worn my regular boots instead of snow boots a few times lately. More shocking, I’ve worn skirts and dresses to an event or two. It’s helped that the weather has been a bit warmer – just above zero for the last several days.

nk pearl girl

I thought this "mannequin" made of pearls was amazing.

I’ve noticed that people on the street are doing the same as me. In particular, I’ve seen lots of big winter coats over short shorts worn with tights. And suddenly, people are wearing Converse instead of snow boots. All the newspapers and store windows are featuring spring fashion, of course, so that helps my mood and inspiration. As always, department store NK has some creative displays in their windows – they’re worth checking out.
