Snow chaos

in Stockholm,Stockholm weather,Travels

OK, there’s not really snow chaos today but rather a heavy frost and fog that seems to be growing thicker as the morning goes on. But I’ve been dying to use the phrase snow chaos because it seems that the newspapers incorporate this phrase into headlines about every other day. (Of course, it’s snökaos på svenska!) The dramatic sound of it makes me laugh every time. Maybe I’ve been in Sweden too long?

It was -15C earlier this morning, but it’s already warmed up to a balmy -11. I’m sure a heat wave is on the way. Actually, I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t get the gigantic snowfall that has blanketed the rest of Europe. While we do have a lot of snow on the ground – by my unofficial guess about 15 cm – it’s always good to add a bit more snow chaos, isn’t it? Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow, so there is hope for some more good headlines…

Yesterday the newspapers in Germany wrote „Snow chaos all over Germany!“
Today’s headline “Snow chaos is turning into beautiful winter landscape”
I have the impression that it is all about using the word “snow chaos”

I love it Britta! Snow chaos is the headline to use all over Europe!

I’ve been in Germany for six weeks now and have been loving the snow! Having said that, we have only really had three days of it and, coming from Australia, snow in a city is quite new to me. Still, apart from my S-Bahn having 20 minutes Verspätung this morning, I am still to experience this “snow chaos”!

Christian,
I am sure you are loving the snow! Are you coming to Stockholm as well?

I won’t make it to Stockholm unfortunately, although I did have a week in Sweden before I came down here – a few days in Lund, then a conference in Gothenburg and a day-trip to Fredrikstad in Norway to visit some relatives. Of course, it was a very rushed trip and a week is certainly not long enough!
