Italian in Stockholm

in Eating out in Stockholm,Stockholm,Stockholm's food

With all the winter weather, I’ve been craving comfort food. And what is more comforting than some beautifully prepared pasta? I  went to check out the brand-new Caina restaurant for lunch yesterday with my friends MB and Linda. Located in the just opened on Wednesday Nobis Hotel, the restaurant serves traditional Italian fare, prepared simply and elegantly. I was happily surprised by how good it was. We tried the buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad, the truffle risotto and the lunch pasta special of penne puttanesca.

Chef Stefano Catenacci is a third generation Italian chef who says “we will serve Italian food in its genuine, true form, not in the usual interpretations presented around the world. A bruschetta, for example, is a piece of yesterday’s bread, charcoal grilled, rubbed with fresh garlic, sprinkled with good olive oil and seasoned with sea salt, nothing else.”

The dining room is small and stylish with some very cool light fixtures on the ceiling that look like a cross between cotton clouds and calla lily blooms. On the second day of being open, the room was full but not packed. There was a VIP table though – we could not help but notice that in the corner behind us was Princess Victoria’s husband Daniel. No Victoria was in sight, though. For more details about the restaurant, see caina.

Antroploga,
It was definitely fun to combine good food with a celebrity sighting!
