Playing possum in Canberra

I can’t say that I have ever thought a possum was cute back in the US. Instead, they were an annoying nuisance that got into my trash cans and made scary noises at me when I tried to chase them away. But yesterday, I watched this little possum eat a banana. And I have to admit that I thought she was rather sweet.

Although possums are typically nocturnal, this one and her baby gets fed bananas and apples by hand at the Applied Maths Department at Australia National University. She obviously has a pretty good life and was willing to pose for me. And without making any scary noises.
