My Swedish accent

It happened again. I was out for dinner with friends. I ordered in Swedish. And then the server says: ” You are from France,” in a statement sort of way. When I then replied that no, I am from the US, he said: “Really, I thought you were from France. Your accent sounds French.”

Since my knowledge of French is limited to the basic travel stuff and mostly linked to my knowledge of Spanish, I have to say that I am a bit confused as to why so many people think I am French. Now I am beginning to wonder if perhaps my attitude is French. Maybe people just think I am a snooty bitch. Or maybe I am just working off of my own French stereotypes.

It’s NOT because you’re snooty, I would never think you could be that.
