Understanding the Swedish menu

Robert and I had a Swedish breakthrough today. In waiting for a table outside at Sturehof, we were chatting. The waiter overheard us and spoke English while taking us to our seat. In turn, we spoke Swedish back to him. Too which he said, very good, you must have Swedish menus then. With a flourish, he took the English menus away and switched them to Swedish. Maybe it sounds goofy, but Robert and I felt proud. That was the very first time that we have been deliberately switched to Swedish menus. We felt like true locals in this very Swedish cafe.

The sun came out as we ordered and the autumn afternoon outside was magnificent. It’s funny how the little things make you feel connected to a place.
