For as far back as I can remember, I’ve gone fishing with my family. Almost always, we went to Michigan and fished on one of the many lakes there. (You can read more about my fishing adventures here.)
I’ve spent the last few days at my uncle and aunt’s place on Lake Erie fishing. It feels like home to me. Like summer in Ohio. Like childhood. It’s been wonderful.
Now, I will be the first to admit that I am a bit of a princess in that I rarely, if ever, have to bait my hook or take off a fish. I grew up as the only girl in my family and my Dad always took care of that for me. Now Robert does, or if my Dad is around like today, he will still do it. My uncle will too.
It makes it easy for me, of course. And I have to say that I am seldom as happy as when I am on a boat with a fishing pole in my hand. So life has been good for the last several days. Yesterday, we caught several “keeper” walleye, as well as other fish that we released. But yesterday, we were skunked. No keepers. The day was a bit too hot and calm for those fish to bite. We had a great time anyway.

I too come from a long line of fishing people, although I haven’t caught the bug for it as yet. I do however, love water and being out at sea…
Lou Lou: I think I am best classified as a lazy fisher type, but I do love being on the water!
