Eating out in Canberra

crispy fish salad

The crispy fish salad had bits of fried fish, green mango, mint, coriander and roasted peanuts with a hot chili dressing.

Last night, we had yet another amazing meal. I’m beginning to sound like a broken record, aren’t I? But we went to Thirst Wine Bar & Eatery for dinner with friends and it was outstanding.

Thirst serves modern Thai food with a tasty combination of flavors and textures. For starters, we sampled fish cakes, Thai sausage, Chiang Mai sausage and spring rolls. It was all good, but I particularly loved the Chiang Mai sausage which was served cold with lime, peanuts, coriander, ginger and chili. And then we had the crispy fish salad. It was even better. The combination of mango, mint, coriander, peanuts and chili was nothing short of spectacular. I could have stopped right there and been happy for the night. But we then had a chicken and basil stir fry and red curry with kaffir lime leaves that also left a wonderful taste in my mouth. Combined with a 2009 Bourke Street Shiraz from Canberra that enhanced the spices, the evening was just about perfect. See Thirst Wine Bar & Eatery.
