Cruising into Vasastan

On Friday nights, Sveavägen in Vasastan hosts a continual parade of cool vintage cars.

I’ve been off line, but not by choice. First the move had me hopping and then the internet was not hooked up at the new place as promised. Don’t you think it would have been good to be told that the internet at the new place would start eight days AFTER our old home phone was unplugged? So much for working at home!

All that said, we are now residents of Vasastan and our new hood seems interesting and also so very, very much more quiet. The first night we slept here, I almost could not get to sleep because of the lack of noise. No partying all night drunken singing and shouting drifting up the hill from Björns trädgård and Medborgarplatsen could be heard.

The apartment itself is gorgeous and there’s a lot to love about it, including a washer and dryer of our own. (Ah, the things that make you happy after years of renting! ) At the moment, the décor can best be described as moving box nightmare. I keep shifting around cardboard boxes, getting them out of the way, then unpacking them and trying to figure out where things go, then breaking the boxes down. There are a few areas of organization in progress, mostly in the kitchen and our bedroom, but otherwise, the place is in chaos. Maybe I’ll be in better shape by next week…
