Christmas trees are being set up in squares around town, including the big one at Skeppsbron on Gamla Stan. I had always admired the gloriously big pine tree that was placed there, imagining it to come from somewhere in the north woods of Sweden. But two years ago, I saw the tree being assembled like an artificial model. Basically, it’s a gigantic pole to which real pine branches are attached. Somehow, finding that out took some of the magic out of the tree for me. That said, the tree is always beautiful once all the lights are on it and it’s worth checking out. (It’s being assembled now if you want to see that!)
It’s windy and gray today and the forecast is for snow. Since it’s November, I am OK with that. When we were out on Sunday, we walked through Kungsträdgården and saw that the ice skating rink is back in action. It feels like winter.
