I expected to have  a good time in Lisbon. But I thought we would hang out in the sunshine at the beach. Thanks to some un-Lisbon-like gray and cool weather, that did not happen. Instead, we explored all kinds of back streets around the city and kept making all these fantastic discoveries. Completely by surprise, we came across Mezcal Bar Mexicano, a tiny Mexican bar in the Barrio Alto. Manuel the owner was happy to speak a combination of English and Spanish with us and hang out while Robert had mezcal and I had tequila.

I definitely didn’t expect to find a good Mexican bar in Portugal, nor did I expect to listen to some American-style blues. Wandering in the Barrio Alto again, we came across Alface Hall, a bar in a hostel, and the  music sounded so great that we couldn’t resist going in for a listen. And that made for another good evening.

We came across great all kinds of wonderful street musicians and even a photo marathon where photographers were racing around the city to take photos. Lisbon definitely had a lot going on and we had a blast.
