Today is the winter solstice or the shortest day of the year for us northern hemisphere dwellers. For me here in Stockholm, the sun rose at 8.44 and will set at 2.48 in the afternoon. Given that the sun is not actually out today at all, the sunrise detail actually seems a bit overstated. But I don’t care. For tomorrow, I will get two more minutes of daylight and that means that I am turning the corner and heading back toward longer days of sunlight again. Now that is cause for celebration in my books.

Ahh winter solstice! At least december has been a better month in terms of sunshine than november.
