What I love about Stockholm

April 22, 2011

in Living in Europe,Stockholm, what to see in Stockholm

Djurgarden

The view from Djurgården.

If you don’t look at the buildings on the opposite shore, I bet you would think that this scene was somewhere way out in the archipelago. It just looks so pristine, like it should be miles from anywhere. But it was taken on the island of Djurgården and is just about 5-15 minutes away from the city center, depending on whether you’re walking or driving. I love that Djurgården is so accessible and so green. It makes me feel like I can quickly escape to the outdoors. And it’s one of my favorite parts of Stockholm.

Djurgården kayaking

The kayaking looks great but I know that water is cold. There was still ice on this part of the Baltic just two weeks ago!
