As we left the plane from Helsinki and made our way into the Hong Kong airport, we were greeted with our names on a signboard. Just like that, we were issued passes for the VIP Lounge courtesy of FinnAir. As we had a six hour delay and were planning on dragging our carry-ons into the city, we decided this was worth checking out. It was. We never left the airport lounge as it just seemed like too much work.
After drinking bloody mary’s, we had showers and are now in the lounge drinking “The Dream of Tea Ceylon Tea” and using the free wireless. The dinner buffet is full of fantastic looking Asian stir fries and soups that we plan on checking out soon. This is just what we need to recover before we change to Cathay Pacific Airlines – I’ve always wanted to try them – and our nine-hour flight to Sydney. From there, we will go on to Hobart, Tasmania – our final destination for the next week. As far as long-haul air travel goes, things could be a lot worse.
