The city has a different vibe this time of year. In January, you just live here. You cocoon, stay inside. But with visitors in town, we were out and about yesterday, walking around Gamla Stan and Kungsträdgården, having a drink at the Grand Hotel, shopping along Drottninggatan. It was quiet. Very quiet. At first it felt strange. I am used to showing people around with the summer crowds. But then I began to enjoy the solitude. Even though the day was gray, it felt good to be out seeing the city with tourist’s eyes. Even at this time of year, there is beauty.
