The sound of summer

in Stockholm weather

Thunder woke me up. It was just after six this morning and it was such a pleasant surprise. It didn’t last long and it wasn’t very loud – nothing at all like the crashing and banging that could last for hours back in the Midwest. But it was nice to hear. To me, it was the sound of summer. And it also left a long-forgotten Bob Seger song stuck in my head: Night Moves. “I woke last night to the sound of thunder. How far off I sat and wondered.” It’s been a long time since I heard or even thought about that one.

So cool that a storm stirred up memories of Detroit’s Bob Seger! I recall meeting people from the East Coast and they had no idea who he was. Yes, Tom Cruise danced in his undies to Old Time Rock & Roll but Seger is definitely tied in with our 70s midwestern upbringing. And, I love that 🙂 Slow dancing to We’ve Got Tonight brings back some fascinating memories…

Kezia,
I know, I haven’t thought of that song for at least a decade. He was definitely part of childhood.
But it’s interesting about the East Coast people – I asked Robert if he knew who Seger was and he said he was very popular in Australia!
