The royal wedding week

in Stockholm, what to see in Stockholm

Ships on the Baltic

All sorts of cool sailing ships are in town for the wedding and you can tour them as part of the Love Festival.

I finally made it down to Skeppsbron and Kungsträdgården yesterday to check out all the festivities for Love 2010 or the royal wedding. There are so many creative things going on, from an IKEA-sponsored camp where you can spend the night in tents directly on the water to art exhibits, schlager competitions and waltz lessons.

My friend Peggy and I went into the miniature IKEA store where you can buy Tillsammans or together plates, napkins, tote bags and mints. Then of course there are the porcelain collector plates with the Princesses’ photo on them and even princess tortes or cakes and chocolates you can try.

There are cafes, exhibits and shops set up all along the water here and I couldn’t help but think that it would be great to have this sort of thing all during the summer for tourists. It was really quite fun.

May pole at Skeppsbron

A traditional may pole is set up at Skeppsbron, just for the wedding.

We loved your photos and commentary on the Royal Wedding. The midsummer evening photos were beautiful. Wish we were there.
