The real end of Christmas

julgranar

We bought our julgranar or Christmas tree just down the street from our Stockholm apartment.

We procrastinated as long as we could, but we are finally taking the Christmas tree down today. It’s always so nice to have a tree around – the pine smells heavenly and I love how a tree looks all decorated up with lights and ornaments. But our poor tree is so dead that just looking at it causes an avalanche of needles to fall off. So it’s beyond time to let it go. Besides, Friday was trettondag jul or the thirteenth day after Christmas – epiphany – and the holiday that brings an end to the season here in Sweden. Time for the real world again.

No Annelie, it’s never as much fun to take down the decorations as it is to put them up!
