Sweden has an image. It dates back to the 1960s when the rest of the world decided that Swedes was sexy and liberal, for a whole variety of reasons that I won’t go into here. But what I will go into is the truth as I see it.

When you live in the city, you can’t help but see your neighbors in their homes. And living as we do on the “bohemian” island of Söder, it seems that Robert and I are always seeing our neighbors naked or in just their underwear. At first, it was a bit of a surprise. Now they are part of our landscape. There’s the naked vacuumer, the naked breakfast couple, and so on. It’s definitely not something I ever witnessed back in Cincinnati. Nor is the number of nude sunbathers that I’ve seen. Especially in the archipelago, there’s a large number of people who truly seem to want to be at one with nature in the summer. With the long months of darkness we have to deal with here, I must say that I actually applaud these attempts at soaking up the sun. And again, it’s not something I saw in Cincinnati…
