Yesterday I made like a princess and had tea at the Grand Hotel. For two glorious hours, my friend Annelie and I were pampered with a posh and proper tea service. Tea was served in silver pots and poured into china cups. Our little treats included tasty and tiny tea sandwiches of shrimp, cheese and roast beef, scones served with lemon curd and a whiskey marmalade, as well as exquisite little desserts.
It was all so lovely, even if we did laugh at ourselves for being so very fancy. The view from the Cadier Bar overlooks the Baltic and the Royal Palace. As we watched the sun set, I felt like there was nowhere else that I would rather be. And then I went home and back to work and reality. It was good to be a queen while it lasted.
