Surviving summer in Cincinnati

August 5, 2010

in Cincinnati: my hometown,Stockholm

After a quick trip to the US, I am back in Stockholm again. In Cincinnati, there was a smog alert – this is issued by environmental services when the concentrations of either ozone or particle pollution are expected to reach unhealthy levels. Drivers are told to combine trips and to refuel after dark. Basically, it meant that I had a headache.

Temperatures were in the mid 90s with about 100 percent humidity. It was so hot, but I spent a good part of my time indoors freezing thanks to the air conditioning. Then as soon as I would step outside, I was sweating. The crazy contrasts brought back so many memories of summer in Cincinnati. Working in an office there, I would spend most of the summer at my desk wearing a sweater and with a space heater on at my feet. Something just seems a bit out of whack. doesn’t it?
