Robert has been traveling constantly over the last months for work, arriving home for a few hours and then leaving again the next day for a new destination. So when he mentioned I should join him in Portugal, I couldn’t resist. I arrived Wednesday night and he and a work colleague promptly drove me to the beach for dinner. You can’t get a better welcome than that.
Although it was windy and a bit on the cool side, the location was gorgeous. The local fish place Leslie had planned on taking us to was closed, so then we moved on to another spot. Called Borda D’Agua, it was right on the beach–Praia Morena on the Costa de Caparica. To start, we had white wine sangria and then we were presented with a tray of fresh fish to choose from–I had the grilled sea bass.
With the sound of the waves crashing to shore and the heat lamps on to stay cozy, it was all together a perfect place to hang out for the evening.

One of my favorite things to do: Eat outside in Southern Europe somewhere. It’s the evening’s entertainment, and taken seriously. Just last night my prince and I went out to dinner in a lovely little restaurant in a small town in the US, which actually had a small terrace. The weather was balmy. Only one other couple was eating outside with us, while 8 or so other ones sat inside. The food was delicious, well presented, with excellent service. We even had a great dessert. But there we were, 45 minutes later, on our way out the door, all finished and paid for. We looked at each other, knowing what the other was thinking: Let’s move to France đŸ˜‰
Eating outside is one of my favorite things to do as well Miss Footloose. And it is definitely done much more in all types of weather in Europe. Here in Stockholm, some places keep their outside seating year round so people can bundle up and sit outside on a sunny winter day.
