rain with sunshine

The bartender at Helene's Krog gives diners a bit of rain protection.

While thunderstorms tend to be rare in Stockholm, rain showers with sunshine are typical of Swedish summer. The combination creates a brilliant light in the sky and rainbows often occur too. Typically, there’s a light and steady downpour that stops after 10 minutes or so. So when it started raining on Sunday while we were eating dinner outside, we just put up our umbrellas and kept eating. Most of the other diners did the same.

With umbrella in hand, I kept eating my dinner of skagenröra with baked potato.

And we weren't the only ones to stay out in the rain!

That’s so funny lol… It looks like you’re practically a native now!

I have never seen so many rainbows as I have in Sweden. Full ones, too, and even double rainbows!

That’s so funny – it’s frequently sunshine and showers here too, but everyone rushes inside!
