Stockholm on a Sunday

We watched a number of sailors practicing their racing skills on Lake Mälaren today. Photo by Robert Corkery.

On the weekends, Robert and I love to get out and wander around town when we have the time. During the week, we tend to be overplanned and overbooked, so it’s relaxing to just go without much of a purpose. Well, actually, there was one big purpose: the sun was shining so I needed to be out. I am already noticing the descent into winter darkness and know that I have to get as much vitamin D as I can at this point.

Then our secondary purpose was to make it to the Press Stop magazine store on Södermalm at some point. (We both love magazines.) So we hopped on the bus to go to Slussen, but instead quickly jumped off again by Stadshuset. The wind was blustery and thus perfect for sailing, so we watched a number of boats racing on Mälaren. Then we walked on to Gamla Stan and stopped for a pizza for lunch there and wandered amongst the tourists on Västerlånggatan for a while.  Then it was on to Söder for the magazine store. Patrick’s was our stop for drinks and then we had to watch the big rival soccer match between AIK and Djurgården. It was a good and relaxing way to end the weekend.

I’m the same. During the week I barely have time to scratch myself, as I usually have some activity on most nights. But by the weekend, no plans, no nothing… I’ve been checking out the weather/conditions in Stockholm as my friend Grant, http://twistinthedark.net/ is heading off in a couple of weeks. He’s a big fan of Peter Joback, and is looking forward to concert time.
