Stockholm from the water

strandvagen

Looking toward Strandvägen or beach road. I love the turrets on these buildings from the 1880s.

In Cincinnati, I could always count on a fairly long and hot summer. But in Stockholm, you’re never sure how many sunny and warm days you will have. We can literally have about two weeks of what I would call proper summer weather some years. So when it’s nice like it has been the last few days, you feel like you have to be outside. I’ve been doing just that. And now I’m tired.

djurgardsbron

Djurgårdsbron or the Djurgården bridge was built for the 1897 Stockholm World's Fair.

The boat ride with friends on Friday night was relaxing, at least. And we found all sorts of good views of the city. I guess you could call these photos a boat’s eye view.

battleship

The battleship Carlskrona was parked along Skeppsbron. It's the second largest vessel in the Swedish navy.

toward djurgarden

Looking toward Djurgården.

grona lund

Gröna Lund. This amusement park dates from 1883.

I have often wondered if Scandinavians are exhaustd by the end of the summer, trying to squeeze so much into such a short season.

Jane: I can’t speak for Scandinavia, but I certainly feel the stress of trying to cram it all while it’s nice out!
