Yesterday felt like I was on a film shoot and changing locations, quickly, over and over again. It was surreal but oh so interesting. After working in the morning, Robert and I left for the Stockholm airport. At our gate, we ate a picnic lunch of sandwiches and wine. Then two hours later, we were in Munich and watching surfers at the airport. Yes, you read that right. There was a giant wave pool where dozens of surfers were trying to catch a wave. Go figure.
Then we caught the slow train to Innsbruck from Munich, stopping for a quick train switch in Garmisch. Along the way, the views were first of corn fields and lakes, then deep alpine valleys, snow topped mountain peaks and brown and white Bavarian houses with window boxes full of geraniums. A huge thunderstorm built up for about an hour before finally dropping quarter-sized hail on us, which sounded fantastically loud on our metal roof as we drank our Munich beers.
We finally got to Innsbruck at 9.30 in the evening. And it was hot. Hot like we have not had in quite a long time kind of hot. Thirty degrees of hot. And we went out for dinner in the charming old town and had Austrian sausages and pretzels with some Austrian beer at a beer hall. Sitting outside in the heat, I was sweating. And it felt so good.

Surfer in Munich!! Crazy!
Joe is also in Austria. Not far away from you.
Here it is just around 20 degrees but without hail.
Hope you are having a great vacation. Although I am a little bit disappointed that you didn’t pass Aachen on you way. 🙂
Sorry Britta–I’m here for a conference!
