night views of stockholm

The view looking toward Helgeandsholmen – an island that's part of Stockholm's Gamla Stan or Old Town. Sweden's Parliament House is located here. Both photos by Francesco Sapienza.

Stockholm is one gorgeous city. Even after living here for eight years as of tomorrow, it still has the power to take my breath away. Just check out these photos from Francesco Sapienza and you will know what I mean.

As for Francesco, he was born and raised in Rome, but lived in Stockholm for 16 years. Now he lives and works as a photographer in New York. I asked him what inspires him to take photos. His response: “Light and colors are definitely two major inspirational factors. Almost any subject can become really beautiful and inspiring if the light surrounding it is beautiful. The same goes for colors. However, I take a lot of black and white pictures and they can very often be more powerful than the color ones. I try and challenge myself to look for inspiration in things that do not seem very inspiring at first glance, as a sort of exercise. That forces me to look closer and examine things more thoroughly.”

Beautiful photos Sandra. It’s clear that Francesco focus is on light and colors because that is exactly what shines in his wonderful work!
