My town Stockholm

in Stockholm,Travels

When I describe Stockholm to people, I often say that it is beautiful and modern, but understated. It it not a flashy town with skyscrapers and architectural wonders. Buildings are painted in earth-toned russets, ochers and soft cream tones. Homes are often plain and box-shaped on the outside, but inside they are stylish and homey. This is a city that relies more on its natural beauty – the endless waterways and green areas.

But you don’t have to take my word for it. You can check it out for yourself. On CNN this weekend, Bjorn Ulvaeus of ABBA fame gave a tour of some of his favorite Stockholm sights. See Bjorn on Stockholm. He calls Stockholm “a little pearl” and recommends walking through the island of Sodermalm – where I live – and Gamla Stan. And here is part two: bjorn part 2. Enjoy the sights!

I heard it was somewhere on Sky tv but wasn’t sure where. Will keep an eye out for it. It’ll bring back memories… 🙂

Thanks for posting.

Steph
