There are worse things I could obsess about. But you’d think I would have long ago given up on Mexican food here in the north. Actually, you’d think I’d quit writing about it on this blog. But no, my quest continues and I have to share the good news – last week, I was blessed with a bonanza of Mexican cuisine.
On my birthday, I went with some friends to La Neta and enjoyed a super tasty taco lunch along with a Dos Equis. I was so happy. Like all good finds, I almost hesitate to mention La Neta for fear that I will never find a seat there again. Because this place is always packed and really I shouldn’t let anyone else know about it. Even my Mexican friend Carmen buys her tortillas there. But I’m feeling generous and willing to share. So Stockholmers: go to La Neta!
I was further spoiled last week by going to a dinner party on Friday. My Swedish friend Micke made perhpas the very best cervice and fish tacos I’ve ever eaten. Plus he and Zanne served up some killer margaritas. Oh my, life is good.
It was a heckuva good week.

Well, I went to La Neta for lunch today about 12:45. Not to worry your blog did not fill the place. There were plenty of empty seats even outside. I would say it is the least bad of all the Mexican restaurants I have risked in Stockholm. They actually use spices. I sat kitty corner from a suit with a $2,000 Rolex. He says he eats their regularly since it is close to his office and he finds the place charming (extra credit points—who do you suppose started the conversation). There were no margaritas (this is Stockholm at lunch remember) and the prices were Stockholm high. I recommend the Rancho Allegre in Newport Washington that I found by accident this summer. Three of us got huge plates of really good food, two giant margaritas (that actually had tequila in them) and a small desert each. Great service so we added a 20% tip. Total 283 SEK
Love the story Tom. And yes, this is the best place by Stockholm standards, not US!
