Eating lunch at Flickorna Helin Voltaire makes you feel like you’ve escaped. And given it’s location on Djurgården, I suppose that you have in a way. Even though it’s not far from the Djurgården bridge and can be busy with tourists on the summer, it’s a special place.
The fairy castle-like exterior sets the stage well. Inside, it’s cozy and dark with open fireplaces. Waiting in line to place your order, home-baked goodies of all sorts surround you, from meringues to cinnamon buns and cakes. They’re hard to resist, but also just good to admire as they are usually beautiful. And the lunches are flavorful, tend to be healthy and good looking. Yesterday I had the Flickorna salad: a combination of beetroot, walnuts, chevre cheese and roasted root vegetables set on top of mache, arugula and romaine lettuce. Oh my it was so good. As was the spread to go with the bread: cottage cheese mixed with arugula and basil.
On a sunny day like yesterday, the outside terrace is the place to be. Luckily, there are plenty of polar fleece blankets to keep warm with at Helin Voltaire as well.

What a nice day we had. Love being able to walk on Djurgarden again. It is my favorite area in Stockholm. Lunch was so good.

It was indeed a lovely day Mary Beth!
And I think I’ve missed the worlds fair with all you girls!
