Lunch at Rosendals Garden

in Stockholm,Stockholm's food

 Rosendals Trädgård

Just a few of the desserts to be sampled at Rosendals Trädgård.

On a sunny spring day, there are few places in Stockholm that can beat Rosendals Trädgård or garden. So yesterday, I took some time off from the computer to enjoy the weather for a while and my friend Annelie and I had lunch at Rosendals cafe.

Rosendals Trädgård is on the island of Djurgården, which is in itself a green oasis in the center of the city. Some of the gardens and greenhouses at Rosendals date back to the 1850s. There are apple trees from the 1860s, vineyards, rose and vegetable gardens and in the summer, there is even a cutting garden where you can cut and create your own bouquet. All sorts of organic produce is grown here which is in turn used in the cafe to create some creative and healthy food.

It was a day that felt good to be out in the garden, a day that felt good to be alive.

Flower beds that are starting to come to life.

At Rosendals, you can eat inside in the greenhouse or outside in the garden.

Dear Sandra,
I have been enjoying reading your blog and learning about your book project. I agree with you 100 percent about Rosendals. I featured it in my previous book about wellbeing in Sweden which was published by Penguin in the US. I’ve got a new book out now. Check http://www.lettersfromtheisland.com. I do a lot of “getting my hands into the soil” in that book. Cheers. Julie Lindahl

Hi Julie,
Rosendals is a great spot. I am wishing I was there again today, in fact!
Thanks for reading my blog. I will certainly check out your book as well – it’s great to meet another “Swedish” writer.
Best,
Sandra
