Living in the no-fly zone

in Stockholm,Travels

Crocus blloming in Stockholm.

Although there are no cut flowers in the stores, the crocus are up in my local park.

Sometimes, I am not so quick. I was standing at the flower shop last night and wondering why there were no fresh flowers. There is always a nice selection at my local, so I was puzzled. Then just as quickly, I knew why: the volcano. No flowers have been delivered from abroad and there are certainly no flowers growing in Stockholm yet.

Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport is back in business, although airports in southern Sweden still are not open due to the ash plume. My friend Maria was on a ferry from London to Dublin last night, so she should be home now. And Annelie and Jaakko have made it to Stockholm and are waiting for the Helsinki airport to open today to end their extended holiday. And Susan made it to Paris yesterday after being stranded in Stockholm for five days. So things are slowly getting back to normal. For now.
