Indigo Bar Stockholm

The casual crowd at Indigo. Later in the evening, this bar tends to be packed.

Robert always works late. So when he called me just before 5 on Friday and said, “Meet me at Indigo for a drink,” I was surprised. And also happy to also stop work for the day and join him.

Indigo is one of my favorite places in town to stop for a drink. The place is stylish with its fuchsia and yellow color scheme. The chandeliers are neon tubes. There’s wallpaper on one wall that looks like something your grandmother would have in her living room, but here, it looks cool when combined with the groovy metal chairs. And the music somehow seems to suit the place and ranges from reggae and ska to indie and modern.

Indigo is also small and usually packed. So if you want a table, get there early. We were there last week just as it opened. We got a table, but within minutes, all the rest were gone. Service is friendly. While some food, including tapas, is available, this is primarily a hang out and have a drink kind of place.

Located between Slussen and Medborgarplatsen at Götgatan 19, Indigo has an understated exterior and can be easy to miss. But it’s well worth finding.
