Going to the birds

Robert hanging out with friends in the Dandenong National Park.

I was attacked by birds on Friday. But I did ask for it. Robert and I stopped at Grants Picnic Ground in the beautiful Dandenong National Park in Victoria, just outside of Melbourne. Birds were everywhere, in particular cockatoos and parrots that you could feed.

A cockatoo feeding frenzy.

The cockies were big, loud and aggressive and I felt like I was under attack more than a few times as I held bird seed out. They would peck at your ankles, swoop your head and land on your arms to be fed. Given their size, those birds had some big and sharp claws which they felt no compunction about digging into my arm with. It felt like I was in a Hitchcock film, only with cockatoos doing the damage.

The pic of Robert and his friends (camera and birds) made me smile…
