Filing taxes, Swedish style

Today is tax day in Sweden and Robert and I filed our Swedish taxes last night via SMS. With your mobile phone, you send an SMS to the tax authority, putting inĀ  your personnumer (like a social security number) and an ID code. Press send and that’s all. Within minutes, we each got separate messages letting us know that the tax authority had received our declarations: Din deklaration har nu kommit in til Skatteverket.

The process is so crazy simple. Just thinking of the piles of paperwork we have to fill out for our American taxes makes my head hurt.

Thanks Oliver. I am familiar with Sweden.se, but not the blogs. Good stuff there.
