We spent Saturday night at Nici and Roger’s. Their house is one of my favorites in Stockholm, but it’s not actually in Stockholm, but rather in Ekerö on Lake Mälaren. This summer, they built a dining cottage directly on the water so as to better enjoy the view. Lucky for us, they’re generous about sharing their new dining spot.
For dinner, we had a multi course meal, much of which came from Nici’s garden. We started with homemade hummus, Tzatziki and soda bread. Then there were fresh green beans cooked with bacon. Even the water was flavored with mint and smultron – tiny strawberries – from the garden. And on the grill, we had spicy chicken legs, German sausages, corn on the cob, beetroot and sliced eggplant. And of course, we had one big salad from the garden too. It was a feast that went on for hours. Definitely what I call a food happy.
