On the day we moved to Stockholm, I remember driving into town and as we got closer toward the city center, being awestruck by all the water. We went along Klara Sjö past Stadshuset and then the view opened up towards Riddarfjärden and Strömmen – Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. As Stockholm’s center is made up of 14 islands, it felt like water was everywhere. And boats of all sorts were all around too. Since I’m a girl from the Midwest who grew up boating on the Great Lakes, this combination was exciting. And just then, I fell in love.
