Autumn in Stockholm

October 4, 2009

in Stockholm,Travels

One minute, it is sunny and gorgeous.

A view from Södermalm: one minute, it is sunny and gorgeous.

It is full-on autumn now.  It is blustery and the weather changes from sun to rain and then back again from one minute to the next. Just when you think it is nice and warm, the weather changes again.

Yesterday, we had rain all day. So we cocooned inside and I even made my first-ever apple pie. (My pie-baking Mom will be proud.) We did not leave the apartment until we went down to our local pub The Southside at 9.30 for a drink. And today, it started sunny. But as the day wore on, the wind picked up and now the rain keeps coming and going.

Five minutes later, it was hailing.

Five minutes later, it is hailing.

Sandra, these are beautiful photos. On my second last day in Stockholm last year – first week of August – I almost froze to death. It’s with some fear that I contemplate a trip in March next year. But ah welll, you only live once. But gosh the colours are beautiful in your pics. Do you have any thoughts on spring?

These photos – particularly the colors, the light, and hence their mood – bring back so many memories. I first got acquainted with Stockholm, and Sweden, in the Autumn of 1996. Tell Robert I enjoy his pics!

Thanks Kez. The light is so very evocative of Sweden, isn’t it?
