A Swedish/English blend

I have developed an annoying habit. In speaking to an instructor at the gym today, she asked if I was taking her class. I replied first in Swedish, moved on to English and then came back around to Swedish again. And this was all in the course of just a few sentences. It’s not like I plan to do this. It just seems to be how my conversations evolve. Or maybe devolve is a better word…

The process feels a bit schizophrenic and I am sure it must be both confusing and annoying to listen to. Given the amused look on the instructor’s face, I am fairly certain that I puzzled the heck out of her.

Can I just chalk it all up to living in a Swedish city that is fluent in English?

Don’t feel bad about it. Think of Martin Luther who spoke mixed-up Latin and German while dining with his students.
