Herr Judit

Herr Judit is in an over 100-year-old fire station on Södermalm.

Everywhere I go now, Christmas is taking over Stockholm. The decorations are typically not as in-your-face as in the US, but they are still festive. The store entryway you see here – Herr Judit – is just down the street from me in an old fire station. It’s a vintage store that’s jam-packed with artfully arranged pieces of character from your grandparent’s attic: cocktail shakers, footstools, globes, lamps, clocks, jewelry. It’s one of those stores where you can poke around for a long time and still not see everything.

The store designers have an uncanny knack for taking something like an old, paint-spattered ladder and making you think it is something you should have in your house. And I love how every morning, clerks create an inviting little display in front of the store. It always makes me want to go in and hang out.
