falling snow

On the streets of Stockholm: Risk of falling snow, icicles.

snow warning

Warning collapse.

The signs are back. With the snow accumulating, I knew they would be. What am I going on about? The falling snow danger warning signs on the sidewalks. They are a fixture in Stockholm during the winter. Once the snow starts piling up on the rooftops, it has to come down and often does so in gigantic avalanches.

When I first moved here and saw the signs, I thought they were a bit much. Then I started seeing the stories in the newspapers: there’s always someone who gets hurt or killed by falling snow or a gigantic icicle.  The signs are serious business. As I was walking to the gym at lunch today, a luckily very small avalanche fell on me. Now I truly know it’s winter.
