I finished reading Stieg Larsson’s third book in his millenium series last week. And I have to say, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest did not disappoint. As I have said before in talking about Larsson, I am not a fan of crime stories. But these books have captivated me. And since the books have sold more than 12 million worldwide, I am not the only one.

For me, part of the appeal of reading this Swedish author is that so many of the events that take place in the books occur on the island that I live on. And Södermalm is also where the main characters of Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist live. I feel cool just by association.

After finishing the third book in the trilogy, I am left wanting more. There is rumored to be a partially finished fourth book. Now I guess I just have to wait and see if it ever makes it into print.

I had the same feeling about living on Söder where all of this took place. I noticed a year ago all of these Swedish people on tours and finally figure out they were following Larsson’s characters. Now they have tours in English. When the spring comes I think I will take the Swedish tour to practice my Swedish…and then take the English tour to see what is really going on.
